Type of Firewood - Characteristics

Characteristics of olive wood

If there is a tree that represents Spain, one could almost say that it is the olive tree. Partly because of its great contribution to the production of the national olive oil, although its properties are not limited to the creation of liquid gold.

It is also a type of firewood that belongs to the group of hardwoods. This means that this olive wood has resistance and a long duration in the embers. What stands out about this olive wood is that it produces a large amount of flame, which makes it one of the most ideal candidates for use as heating wood in stoves or fireplaces. Its wood is highly appreciated and is one of the main options to be taken because of its high calorific value. In addition, it is not a wood that involves a high cost, so that also plays in its favor.

Characteristics of holm oak wood

The holm oak is a tree that can easily exceed 20 meters in height and is characterized, among other things, by having one of the hardest woods that we can find. It is a high density wood that has had multiple uses. One of the main ones has been the creation of resistant structures, given this condition of hardness that represents them.

Today it is used, above all, for cooking and creating embers for barbecues and restaurants, partly because of its durability and long consistency when lighting the fire. In addition, until not long ago, holm oak wood was used as the main fuel in Spanish homes, thus becoming the only form of heating, together with charcoal.
